Performer Auditions

We're looking for performers aged 18+ to audition for the Playmill's 2026 summer cast and perform in a combination of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Disney’s Frozen, Disney’s Newsies, or as a performing waiter at our restaurant. Players must be available full-time from April 27 - September 5. All positions are paid. Pay is based on experience, with full-time roles starting at $4,000 for the summer, plus tips, housing, and occasional meals. Additional jobs will be available to the cast, including box office, summer camp, and more. All roles are open, with the exception of Jack Kelly in Disney’s Newsies.

We are also seeking young performers aged 8-14 for the roles of Les in Disney’s Newsies and Young Elsa and Anna in Disney’s Frozen.

Preliminary auditions will be done virtually. For your submission, please prepare 32 bars each of two contrasting songs and an optional, one-minute comedic monologue. Videos should be submitted via YouTube link above. Young auditioners only need to prepare one song, accompanied by an optional comedic monologue.

Callbacks will be held in person by invitation only. Attendees can choose between the following dates:

  • January 17th in Atlanta, Georgia (morning)

  • January 22nd in Rexburg, Idaho (evening)

  • January 24th in Salt Lake City, Utah (morning)

At the callbacks, participants will sing, dance, and possibly participate in a cold read. Music and dance material will be dispersed beforehand.

Technical Applications

We are also looking for the following technical positions:

  • Stage manager

  • Assistant stage manager

  • Technician(s)

  • Box office manager

Positions are paid depending on experience, with full-time roles starting at $4,000 for the summer. To apply for one of these roles, click the button above. Please contact tanner@playmill.com with questions.

Note: We will be hiring for additional roles in the restaurant, gift shop, and/or ice cream shop in the coming months.

  • Yes, but housing will only be provided for cast members, so both members of the married couple would need to be hired or else you’d need to find your own housing in order to stay together. Otherwise, the married cast member would be provided housing or could commute.

  • All roles are open with the exception of Alice, Margo, and Mama and Papa Murphy in Bright Star.

  • Auditions will be open December 15 - January 15. After this time, in-person callback invitations will be extended. Those invited can choose from two callback dates, one in Salt Lake City, UT and one in Rigby, ID. Attendees will be sent music to learn prior to callbacks. At callbacks, performers will have a chance to sing, dance, and possibly read sides. Throughout this process, you may be contacted for an interview over Zoom or in person at callbacks.

Casting will begin after our second callback date. Those cast will be notified via phone call. Due to the sheer volume of applicants, we will only be able to reach out to those cast. When casting is finalized, a post will be made on social media.

We understand there are many ways you could spend your summer and we are honored you’re considering spending it with us! Throughout the process, if you need an update to make a decision about other performing opportunities, feel free to reach out and we will do our best to provide you with an update.

  • Sure! We do our best to accommodate, but just know that due to casting needs, we may not be able to accommodate all conflict requests. Non-negotiable conflicts may affect your casting ability.

  • For our 2025 season, we’ll be hiring a box office manager, an assistant stage manager, and a lighting/sound technician. See above for more specifications or to apply.

  • Not this year.

  • Pay between performing and technical positions varies greatly and generally starts at a few thousand dollars for the summer paid out bi-weekly throughout the season.
