Experience The Magic of The Playmill

Come see why hundreds of families have made The Playmill theatre a beloved summer tradition!

Hello! We’re Roger and Heidi Merrill.

We met as cast members and fell in love somewhere between the late nights, the lake trips, and the on-stage laughter. After getting married and raising four children, we purchased the theatre, following in the footsteps of beloved Fern and Lynn Benson, and John and Trudy Bidwell.

After more than 60 years in a building that had given all she could to time and weather, we’re thrilled to begin our inaugural season in a new home in Island Park. As we enter this exciting new era, we carry with us the memories, friendships, and love that have always defined this place - and we couldn’t be more grateful to share it with each and every one of you.

So for the first time in this brand new home, from us to you:

Welcome to The Playmill Theatre.

Welcome home.

Though the numbers were few, the Playmill Players performed with the same energy and excitement that they do today! Who would have guessed that first night was the beginning of a family tradition that would still be alive half a century later?

On June 20, 1964 the audience of The Playmill Theatre walked through the doors for the first time.
