Looking to spend your summer in one of the most beautiful places on earth performing on the famous Playmill stage?
We're looking for men and women ages 18 and up to audition to be in the Playmill's 2021 cast and perform in Disney'sNewsies, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Players must be available full-time from April 26 - August 28, and September 2-4. All positions are paid. Housing will be provided. Special consideration will be given to male dancers.
All roles are open with the exception of Black Stache, Molly, and Smee in Peter and the Starcatcher.
We are also looking for a younger boy to play Les in Newsies. Role is paid and may be double-cast. Housing will not be provided, so auditioners should have housing in the area already or be willing to commute daily. Rehearsals will begin in late April/early May, so the young man (men) cast will need to arrange to finish their semester early or remotely. Those auditioning for Les will only need one Broadway-style song and an optional, one-minute monologue and should follow the rest of the instructions below.
This year, all preliminary auditions will be collected through video only. The audition video should include:
1. A slate telling your name and what you will performing
2. 32 measures (or approximately one minute) each of two contrasting songs, accompanied by either an accompanist or a minus track
If you are primarily a dancer, in addition to one Broadway style song, you may perform a dance in the style of your specialty (tap, tumbling, ballet, etc) in lieu of your second song. The dance should be no longer than one minute long.
3. An optional, one-minute comedic monologue
Videos should be uploaded to YouTube as an "Unlisted" video. Afterward, please fill out the indicated audition application below. There will be a spot towards the end of the form allowing you to paste the link to your YouTube video audition. Applications will be accepted from January 1 - February 1, 2021.
Callbacks are by invitation only and will be held in person in Rexburg, ID, on February 20 and Provo, UT on February 27. Those attending are allowed to choose which callback they'd like to attend. Callback times will be spread out throughout the day to allow for social distancing, but attendees should plan to be available the majority of the day. Depending on the situation with COVID-19, there is a possibility callbacks could be held virtually.
Those who submit auditions will be notified of updates on a rolling basis via e-mail. Those cast will be expected to attend one mandatory pre-season meeting in Rigby, Idaho. The meeting will be held on March 21.
